Ready Room - 1600 hours
Captain, you wished to see me?

*stands at ease, hands folded behind her back, wearing the orange catsuit today*

If you are concerned about the progress of our mission let me assure you that I support your decisions completely. Your choice to use the Lycerian Symbiants, for instance, while I disagreed at the time, your decision has returned our Chief Engineer to us. You have had to make difficult choices, but you have done exceptionally well.

::looks up from terminal on desk at T'Pol's entrance::

Captain, you wished to see me?

Yes, come in T'Pol. Right on time I see.

::smiles, starts to gesture to a chair -- drops hand as she starts speaking::
::allows her to finish her brief remarks, then nods::

Thank you, T'Pol. If I didn't know better, I'd take that as an enthusiastic vote of confidence!

::pauses::

Just a joke...I know you'd never admit to the enthusiasm, but I do appreciate the vote of confidence part.

::starts to continue with discussion... but changes mind, gesturing toward empty chair::

Won't you please sit down, T'Pol? This might take awhile, and I want us both to be comfortable here?

::waits until she seats herself::

Seriously, though-- I do very much appreciate your support on the issues surrounding Trip's Commander Tucker's full recovery from his injuries. It was a hell of a difficult time for me then, and I still lie awake at night sometimes, wondering if I made the right choices.

But, as you say... we needed our Chief Engineer... and I'll be absolutely honest with you here... I needed my old friend. I wasn't admitting that at the time, even to mself... but I know it was a factor. Not the deciding factor, but it was a big one.

Does that change your assessment of that situation or of the choices I made?

*shifts in seat, always somewhat uncomfortable sitting in the Captains presence*

It seems that Sim's short friendship taught a very valuable lesson on the brevity of one's life. Almost as if compensating for it's length, he lived with greater passion feeling than any human I have met. It is unfortunate that his lesson taught many of us aboard the Enterprise how much we have come to depend on the Commander's friendship, compelling our need for Sim to make his sacrifice.

*noting a sadness in the Captain's eyes, nearly pleading not to be reminded of the sacrifice Sim made.. was forced to make. His eyes seem to probe hers, for reprieve, for understanding*

I had not realised how much the crew depended on Trip oops as a friend, myself included, he is not simply our Chief of Engineering. It was upon kissing speaking with Sim that I realised the Enterprise had personal and equally valid motivations to bring Commander Tucker back.

*feeling the heat and growing discomfort under the weight of Archer's gaze*

A human ship relies nearly as much on emotional stability, as warp drive stability...

Logic..

..would suggest that you made the obvious.. choice.

*reaches to pour a glass of cool water from the pitcher kept on the Captains' desk*

*The Captain waits until she is finished, studying her carefully as she sips from her glass*
